Richard D. McCutchan, Ph.D.

Dr. McCutchan's clinical orientation is based in depth psychology with advanced training in Jungian and Archetypal Psychology, Imaginal Psychology, Object Relations and Developmental Psychology. He has worked as an educator, consultant and psychotherapist since 1970. His clinical practice focus’ on couples therapy, men’s issues, anger and violence in our culture, and group dynamics. He currently conducts therapy groups which include such topics as creativity and anger, dream work, men's issues, domestic violence and imaginal psychology. He also facilitates training groups for agencies, interns and mental health professionals. Dr. McCutchan has several years of experience in the area of family violence prevention. During the 1970's he pioneered the first early intervention program funded by the Office of Criminal Justice Planning. He made numerous presentations at local, regional and state level conferences on the topics of early intervention, family systems therapy and community approaches that make an impact on the criminal justice system. In recent years he has worked extensively in the field of domestic violence working with victims, perpetrators and the court system. This has included supervising and training group facilitators for the Nevada County Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition as well as other non-profit agencies. He has served on the Nevada County Family Violence Council.
Dr. McCutchan has traveled and lived in southern Europe, Mexico, Central and South America, giving him a multi-cultural perspective for his research and therapy practice. He currently lives in Freshwater, CA. |
